Unlocking the Power of YouTube Shorts for Aspiring Journalists
Written on
Chapter 1: Embracing a New Journey
After gaining a year of writing experience, I was inspired to chase another ambition on my wishlist: Journalism. It took me over two years to find a fitting avenue, but I finally realized that YouTube could serve as the ideal platform for expressing my journalistic aspirations.
You might be curious about how YouTube connects with journalism. The answer lies in its ability to communicate with a wide audience and share information transparently, which is precisely why I consider it a form of journalism.
Section 1.1: The Shift to YouTube
Let’s cut to the chase—back in May, I decided to dedicate more time to YouTube, spurred by a friend's suggestion to dive into #Shorts. These brief videos, lasting just a minute, are not only simple to create but also easy for viewers to digest.
Starting from July, I ramped up my efforts and have been uploading Shorts daily.
Subsection 1.1.1: Integrating Shorts into My Website
For those unfamiliar, I run a website called iHateReading. I plan to consolidate all my videos there, allowing visitors to watch, filter, and save content. However, I intend to wait until I have 100 videos completed before launching the collection on the site.
