This guide aims to help you overcome that plateau. If your goals are unclear, it's crucial to clarify them before proceeding. If you already have a vision, let’s dive deeper.
I’m going to ask something of you, dreamer. It might feel daunting, but I believe you can handle it.
Grab your laptop or computer and record yourself discussing your dream life. Be as detailed and genuine as possible. If you're using a phone, set it up at a distance.
Don’t worry about perfection—just hit record and start speaking. Once you finish, watch the playback.
Now, reflect on your dream life and contrast it with what you see in the recording.
Why is this exercise important?
Let me explain. As dreamers, we often get lost in our imaginations, causing our reality to fade into the background. By using a laptop, you capture a broader view, allowing you to see not only yourself but also your surroundings.
You’ll notice your body language, voice inflections, and overall demeanor. This exercise illuminates the discrepancies between your current situation and your aspirations.
For instance, if your goal is to reside in a peaceful cottage surrounded by nature, yet your recording shows a vibrant cityscape, this contrast becomes evident. Similarly, if you aim to be a poised public speaker but find yourself avoiding eye contact and speaking softly, it reveals another contradiction.
When I first tried this exercise, I was taken aback by the realizations I had. Instead of criticizing myself, I simply acknowledged what needed to change and set out to make those adjustments. Periodically, I re-record my sessions to monitor my growth.
The aim is to keep recording until your present reality aligns with your aspirations.
This technique is not only effective but also quick to yield results.
