Chapter 1: The Shift to PC Gaming
As a passionate PC gamer, I often indulge in console exclusives like Gran Turismo and The Legend of Zelda. However, my primary gaming experience revolves around my PC. Recently, I've been enjoying Rocket League Sideswipe, a 2D mobile rendition of the popular game. Unfortunately, it’s only available on iOS and Android, which means I usually have to connect my controller to my phone. This setup can be quite frustrating, especially when I want to chat with friends on Discord.
Fortunately, I stumbled upon some exciting news about Google Play Games. The company has just unveiled the beta version of Google Play Games for PC, which will be available to users in:
- Australia
- Hong Kong
- South Korea
- Taiwan
- Thailand
This new development allows gamers in these regions to access a selection of Android games directly on their PCs. You can download Google Play Games for PC from their official website. If you take a look at the site, you’ll find a range of games currently supported in the beta, totaling around 40 titles, which is quite impressive for a beta launch. While I was slightly disappointed that Rocket League Sideswipe isn't among them, I'm still eager to see how well the platform performs on my PC.
Here’s a list of the minimum system requirements to run games on Google Play Games for PC:
- OS: Windows 10 (v2004)
- Storage: SSD with 10 GB of available storage space
- Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU or comparable
- Processor: 4 CPU physical cores
- Memory: 8 GB of RAM
- Windows admin account
- Hardware virtualization must be enabled
It appears that you don’t need a high-end computer to utilize this application. I’m looking forward to the official release of this program, as it will allow gamers like me to enjoy mobile games in a more convenient setup.
