Mike's Curated Collection of Engaging Stories from ILLUMINATION

Written on

Chapter 1: A Journey Through Nostalgia

Greetings, fellow readers and supporters of Medium! I've compiled a selection of 79 diverse collections, offering a variety of reading choices. While brief, I believe there’s something here for everyone. My mission is to uncover valuable narratives that have been overlooked, ensuring you find enjoyment in them. I encourage you to engage with and share the stories you discover. My aim with these collections is to boost visibility and interaction as much as possible.

Today marks the release of our latest newsletter, which will be particularly beneficial for emerging writers. We’ve welcomed additional new contributors, whose profiles you can find at the conclusion of this post—be sure to explore their work!

As we celebrate ILLUMINATION's fourth anniversary, it still feels like a young venture. I often ponder what it will be like as it matures. Although I may not witness those days, many of you will.

Utilizing Aiden's earlier video, I penned a short story infused with my playful Aussie accent—a style I typically don’t adopt. I hope you find it enjoyable.

We have onboarded over 200 new writers, warmly welcomed by the ILLUMINATION editorial team through an onboarding package. I introduced them during my birthday narrative, inviting you to follow those whose writing resonates with you. This platform fosters connections between new and established writers, highlighting the unique community spirit of ILLUMINATION publications, which can be challenging for newcomers.

Our beloved editor, 🥰Lanu Pitan🥰, has returned, and we are thrilled that her Medium account has been reinstated. Dr. Mehmet Yildiz eloquently expressed his admiration for Lanu’s kindness in a heartfelt testimonial. You can delve into Lanu's story for more insight into her background.

Dr. Yildiz also shared his reflections, providing a balanced view on the current situation. His narrative deepened my empathy for both those affected and the platform itself. Having recently faced account suspension myself, I can attest to the emotional toll it takes. However, it is crucial for the platform to remove unproductive accounts.

I recently penned an article sharing my reflections on the recent wave of bulk suspensions. If you’ve heard about the numerous accounts suspended on Medium, we’ve summarized the details for you.

In an exciting development, Aiden produced a fantastic YouTube video tailored for readers and writers of ILLUMINATION-Gaming, providing some valuable guidelines to enhance engagement.

He also highlighted our newly boosted stories, all of which I’ve read. In a special segment, I shared a few boosted stories that captivated me, knowing some readers appreciate extraordinary pieces. Aiden focuses on fresh content, while I aim to present older stories, giving readers a taste of nostalgia. Occasionally, I include newer stories suggested by editors or intriguing finds from my daily readings. Each story is a treasure worth your time; I encourage you to engage and share on social media to amplify their reach. I attempted to follow numerous writers I hadn’t connected with yet, but the system limited me to 150 follows a day. I’ll try again soon.

Aiden's Collections

Here’s his latest collection, which includes a link to my friend's work for anyone interested. He has compiled over 100 collections, continually discovering hidden gems.

Today, we welcomed even more new writers. I’ll list them at the end of this post for your convenience, encouraging you to explore their profiles and connect if their writing resonates with you. Collaboration is a powerful aspect of our community.

Another talented editor, The Sturg, has joined our curation team and has already published his first two well-crafted collections. The dedication he put into these is evident, and I recognize the effort it takes to create such collections. Please engage with and share his work on your social platforms.

Update on Boosting

For those interested in boosting, Dr. Yildiz recently addressed frequently asked questions regarding the boost program on Medium, offering some enlightening insights for writers and editors alike. I wish I had encountered this information a year ago, as it would have clarified why my previous stories hadn’t been boosted, leading me to take a break from writing. His messages bring hope.

ILLUMINATION-Curators compiled our boosted stories from February 2024, showcasing exceptional narratives worth exploring. They also created a new Reader's Club post filled with fantastic stories.

New Interviews

Dr. Mehmet Yildiz recently conducted an interview with the renowned writer Genius Turner. His insights are incredibly valuable and I encourage you to read his story as I did. I’ve also highlighted an interview with Shirley Willett, whom I respect greatly, alongside one of her pieces discussing the 6th dimension.

Additionally, meet the experienced writer David Mokotoff, MD, whose informative and humorous stories I truly enjoy. I’ve gathered fascinating interviews with various writers into a single post for easy access—these narratives are not only captivating but also brimming with life lessons.

Aiden's Boost Education

Aiden has compiled our boosted stories, filled with gems. He introduced the boosted works of Jozsef Kovacs and Joan Naidorf as part of his boost education series. I recall he shared a few additional stories previously, possibly at the end of his last update.

Newsletter Highlights

Our new newsletter is now live on Medium and has also been published on Substack for our subscribers, providing monthly updates from the ILLUMINATION Editorial Team.

Influencing Non-Members

Dr. Mehmet Yildiz penned an open letter addressing non-members. He observed that a significant number of readers and writers are not members contributing to the platform's growth. I believe you’ll find his insights valuable and relatable.

To influence non-members, I’ve compiled a list of all the boosted stories I read last month along with my thoughts, highlighting common themes in these exceptional narratives. There’s something for everyone in these well-crafted pieces, showcasing diverse topics and writing styles.

I also penned two short stories recently to keep my creativity flowing:

  • Her Son Saw Her in the Shower
  • The Sky Was Falling Down
  • A New Scientific Link Between Smoking and ALS

You can find them in this collection if you missed the previous postings.
