# Transforming Focus: Shifting from “Inward” to “Outward”

Chapter 1: The Shift from “Focus-In” to “Focus-Out”
In my journey of self-discovery, I once adopted a “Focus-In” mindset. This approach led me to constantly seek ways to realize my ambitions and become the person I aspired to be. Little did I know, altering this perspective would revolutionize how I pursue my dreams daily.

There’s no definitive right or wrong approach; it’s simply a matter of what resonates with me. Everyone seeks success, including myself. However, I often viewed reality as unforgiving, where winners and losers were clearly defined. This belief fostered a sense of selfishness within me. In a previous article, I recounted my experience of being scammed out of some money, which only reinforced my need to compete with others.
Section 1.1: Understanding the Mindset Shift
As someone entrenched in the “Focus-In” mentality, my thoughts typically revolved around:
- What do I desire?
- How can I achieve that?
- I don’t have enough to offer anymore.
In contrast, adopting a “Focus-Out” perspective shifted my thinking to:
- How can I assist you?
- What can we achieve together?
- I have so much to share.
Two outlooks, two distinct paths.
Subsection 1.1.1: Embracing Abundance Over Scarcity
Many are familiar with the concept of viewing a cup as either half-empty (scarcity) or half-full (abundance). When I dwell in scarcity, I often feel exhausted and revert to self-doubt, even when others recognize my potential. I repeatedly sought motivation, but it was merely a temporary fix.
It was a turning point when I declared, “Forget motivation; I’m taking charge of my life.” This shift transformed everything. Embracing this new mindset, I discovered I had so much more to contribute to those around me while also nurturing myself.

Section 1.2: Cultivating a Spirit of Generosity
When I feel depleted, I no longer search for motivation; instead, I focus on uplifting others to achieve their goals, which in turn revitalizes my own energy. When I’m feeling great, I reach out to those in need, eager to contribute to their success.
I am enough! I am enough! I am enough! This affirmation reminds me that I have plenty to give. The world craves more “half-full” perspectives—more abundance.
Imagine a world overflowing with:
- Love
- Kindness
- Wonderful people
“It’s never too late to start dreaming. It’s never too late to share your dreams. Share them openly with the stars at night, and you will be surprised at how the stars, the universe, and the world around you will deliver those dreams to you.” — Jason Mraz
This quote from my favorite artist encapsulates the spirit of living abundantly. If you ever feel drained, awaken yourself! Shift your focus outward and truly live!
Chapter 2: Shaping Your Future Through Your Choices
The essence of this journey is about the person you decide to become, which ultimately shapes your future, rather than allowing your future to dictate your identity.
