Regardless of the reason, I’ve found ways to keep my head above water by blending realism with hope. Here, I’d like to share six strategies that have positively impacted my life and can surely help you as well.

This year, I began my second five-year gratitude journal, which prompts me each night to consider the positives from my day. Some days, it’s easy to list moments like “Enjoyed a heartfelt chat with my daughter” or “Savored a delightful meal with my spouse.” Other days, I might struggle to find even basic thoughts, like “Grateful for a roof over my head” or “Thankful for the ability to pay for necessities.” Going to bed with a sense of gratitude not only feels restorative but also paves the way for a brighter tomorrow.
2. Seek Out Positive News
In today's world, finding uplifting news might seem impossible, yet it's crucial to actively search for it. I've discovered two fantastic resources! Earlier this year, I came across Future Crunch on Medium, a service dedicated to sharing positive, evidence-based news across various fields, from health to technology. Additionally, Yes! Magazine provides quarterly insights on thematic issues and exemplifies solutions journalism, which is often scarce. Consuming good news can uplift your spirits and counteract the usual negative headlines we frequently encounter.

3. Incorporate Daily Meditation

Reflecting on my upbringing in the 1980s, I often felt out of sync with the prevalent values of greed and individualism. It took me years to realize that my guiding principle is to help shift society from a “me” mindset to a “we” perspective.
