Life Lessons from Cherry Blossoms: Embracing Change

Chapter 1: A Walk Under Cherry Blossoms
A few days ago, I took a stroll around my neighborhood on a breezy, overcast April day. As I walked under a cherry blossom tree, I noticed a scattering of flowers that had fallen to the ground, released by the branches above.
I gathered these petals in my hand, opening it wide to welcome the gentle gusts of wind that surrounded us.
Check out this brief 2-minute video capturing that moment.
Reflecting on the experience of holding those petals and then letting them go, I felt inspired to pen this poem.
Soft pink cherry blossom petals,
having waited through the chill of autumn and winter,
finally ready to bloom come spring.
And so they did, unveiling their true selves,
embracing their purpose and place in the world.
I gather them in my hands,
the hands representing my journey,
the petals symbolizing my experiences, dreams, and aspirations,
the breaths I take, both simple and grand.
The rhythm of the winds reflects my time on this earth,
while the winds' direction signifies my fate.
The winds flow by,
carrying some petals away while leaving others behind.
"Wait! That petal is beautiful! I wish to hold it longer!"
Or perhaps,
"Please take this away! I don’t want it!"
I implore.
The wind chuckles softly, slowing its pace,
selecting petals as it wishes,
and allowing others to linger as long as it sees fit.
Amidst this dance, I am reminded of what I can influence—
the joy I find in pleasant moments,
the wisdom I gain from challenges,
and what I cannot control: when the petals depart.
At times, I extend my hand to release the petals not destined to stay with me.
Some linger, while others are taken when the wind chooses.
Ultimately, I've done my part, and the wind will act in its own time. So be it.
Gradually, I am learning to keep my hand open,
for what kind of life is it to clutch tightly
to crumpled experiences that weigh me down?
When the moment arrives for the beautiful petals to leave,
I let them float away,
wishing them well,
grateful for their nurturing and healing presence—
a presence that was with me just moments ago,
now returning to the universe,
the same universe that gave life to both them and me.
What remains, when the winds have settled,
and my hand is nearly empty,
is my legacy of beauty and gratitude.
Chapter 2: The Essence of Life
In exploring the deeper meaning of life, George Harrison's song "What Is Life" resonates profoundly, encapsulating the essence of joy and existence.
This track captures the spirit of life’s inquiries, urging us to reflect on our own journeys and connections with the world around us.
