To embark on a path of healing, gaining a deep understanding of oneself is essential. Many of our emotional wounds stem from the ways we mistreat and misunderstand ourselves. It’s crucial to explore who you truly are and to unpack the layers of your identity.

Consider how we approach purchasing or using products; we first familiarize ourselves with their features and functionality. For example, we know that electronic devices require careful handling to avoid damage from water. Similarly, we understand that our cars need gasoline, not water, to operate efficiently. Yet, when it comes to our own lives, this level of understanding often eludes us.

The root of this issue lies in a lack of self-awareness. Take the example of someone buying the latest iPhone—while it's a powerful tool with numerous capabilities, many only scratch the surface of what it can do. In the same way, every individual possesses incredible potential within their mind, body, and spirit. However, we frequently neglect to invest time in understanding ourselves, instead conforming to one-dimensional societal expectations of masculinity or identity.

This focus on superficial traits often leads us to overlook the more profound aspects of our design that contain the keys to our uniqueness and genius. We seldom experiment or pay attention to the messages our minds and bodies convey.

To truly thrive, you must unpack your unique functionality. Identify what you need to succeed; discover your niche, your passions, and honor your innate design.

A significant number of my personal challenges arose from resisting and rejecting my true self. I failed to appreciate the gifts I was given and, as a result, overlooked their inherent value.

As intricate beings, we are products of a complex creation, and it may take a lifetime to uncover all that lies within us. Without self-awareness, however, we risk abusing ourselves, acting against our true needs, and losing confidence in our abilities when outcomes don’t align with our expectations. This can lead to feelings of inadequacy and a belief that something is fundamentally wrong with us.

Rather than recognizing that we might be misusing our skills—like trying to cut steak with a butter knife or attempting to swim with wings—we may end up resenting our true selves and striving to become something we’re not.

If you aspire to heal, it’s imperative to cultivate an awareness of your complete being.
