Chapter 1: Introduction to LinkedIn Engagement
In my experience, sharing insights about Cloud Security on LinkedIn led to over 31,000 impressions. Here’s what I discovered about giving actionable advice and expanding your following.

To begin, I must express my distaste for the "going viral" trend. The tendency for users to overload their posts with emojis feels disingenuous, especially on a professional platform like LinkedIn. However, I can't overlook the potential of LinkedIn as a vast network for professionals and businesses, making it a great avenue for those looking to build a cybersecurity brand.
Having previously contributed to Medium, YouTube, and Udemy, I decided to explore LinkedIn for driving traffic to my content. The outcomes were impressive. One of my posts, which discussed how to gain Cloud Security experience without a job, resonated well and garnered significant attention, resulting in a steady increase in my followers.

Section 1.1: Key Takeaways from My Experience
I learned several valuable lessons from the post that received considerable engagement:
- The idea of “adding value” should not be dismissed; my post focused solely on providing straightforward advice for gaining Cloud Security experience without promoting any courses or directing viewers to my YouTube channel.
- It’s advisable to keep links out of the main post, as LinkedIn prefers users to remain on the platform. Instead, place any links in the comments section.
- Actively engage with individuals who comment to foster conversation and connection.
- Enhance your LinkedIn profile to clearly state your role and expertise, encouraging people to follow you for future posts rather than just liking a single post.
In addition, aim for a compelling first line in your posts. In a sea of content, it’s often the opening line that determines whether someone will click “see more.” Including an engaging image can also help attract attention; I found a humorous Jackie Chan image that resonated well.
Lastly, consider repurposing content that has performed well in other formats. I adapted key points from a previous Medium article for LinkedIn, and it received a positive response.
That’s all for now! I hope these insights prove helpful. Instead of merely sharing job updates or liking random posts, take the opportunity to share valuable content on LinkedIn.
Best of luck! And if you would, please check out my post and give it a like as well.
